Vietnamese handicrafts are rapidly gaining a reputation of the most premium decor items all over the world. Vietnamese Handicrafts are hand crafted by skilled workers who use naturally obtained raw materials. Vietnamese craftsmen use a "singular bark technique" to ensure they produce premium handicrafts. Basically they use the bark of only one tree(usually bamboo) to sculpt one artefact. They cut out the bark and then use a mould of mud and clay to sculpt it. Once the process of sculpting is over, they then paint it and use two to three coats of lacquer. The lacquer, bark and paints are all naturally extracted and hence complement each other. The concept of using a single bark for one artefact is to impart a uniformity to the whole piece. The mud & clay that they use to create the cavities, create a suction and cleanse the bark mould from the inside thus eliminating any possibility of error and in general strengthen the over all design. Vietnamese craftsmen often use art inspired from the Neo lithic era. With the advent of modern machine made crafts, not many industries survived, but vietnamese craftsmen have ensured that their art and handicrafts can stand the test of time.
